epa000413372 A monument consisting of 60 contemporary shoes made of cast iron in memory of the Jewish people who were shot in to the River Danube by members of the Hungarian nazi party, the so-called Arrow-Cross Party during World War II, is seen at the quay of the River in Budapest, 15 April 2005, on the eve of the Holocaust Memorial Day marking the 60th anniversary of the beginning of the Hungarian holocaust during which some 600 thousand Jewish Hungarians were deported to Nazi death camps.
